Once we have confirmed a date and I have received a 50% deposit we can begin to discuss the type of look you’d like for your session.
During this time I usually have clients send a photo of themselves so we can take the time to choose the proper background colors and shirt options for your skin type before the session takes place.
-
I suggest the client comes with several options of neutral/ basic tight fitted tops. Blacks, browns, greens, blues, and beiges work best since these colors flatter the skin and make the eyes pop!
Loose necklines don't look great especially when cropping from the chest up. So I suggest collars that fit close to the neck and aren't too low. Tank tops or tight t-shirts are always a good bet.
I don't recommend wild patterns, neons, or bright colors.

The studio space is located at 544 Park Ave in Bedstuy. About 25 minutes from Union Square for reference if you are coming from Manhattan.

No! If you want your hair and makeup done for the session I recommend coming with it done already, and bring anything you might need for touch ups throughout the shoot.
-
I recommend coming with very natural hair and makeup. If you’ve never used a certain product before, DON’T use it on shoot day. You never know how your skin will react to a new product.
Stick with what you know, and if you never wear makeup no need to come with any on! Skincare is the biggest take away for a proper headshot! Happy skin is always the best!

I recommend doing light skin prepping before our session, maybe start using a light exfoliator a few days beforehand, nothing with super harsh chemicals, also if you plan on shaving or doing any facial hair removal make sure to use a fresh razor, or hair removal in advance at least 48 hrs before the session. Also I recommend using a daily moisturizer and spf to avoid dryness and redness!

Yes! I shoot on a digital camera tethered to a computer so you can see throughout the session how your photos are coming, and if you’d like any tweaks to hair, makeup, posing, or outfit throughout.
-
Music during the session is a definite YES, and if clients have playlists they enjoy I'm all for letting them take the musical reins! If not I can just play whatever inspires us during the session. Or we can shoot in absolute silence and stare into each others eyes. Whatever works for you.

I require a 50% deposit upon booking, and the final 50% on the day of the shoot before the session begins.
A full refund for the deposit will be accepted 48 hours prior to shoot start time if you can't make the session for whatever reason.

Yes! Usually it is common to change looks during a background change, but it is also fine to switch up your look anytime during the session.
One take away here is make sure you are adding instead of subtracting. Don’t come with a red lip and eyeliner if you want to take if off half way through. Start light and then if you want to build or add to the look you can do so throughout. Instead of irritating your hair or skin.
If you want to shave between looks you can also do so, but I will say take your time with the shave and always use a fresh razor. I’ve retouched one too many cuts and razor bumps! And would love to avoid that pain for future clients.
FAQs: after
-
A week after your session I’ll send over a contact sheet of the best photos from our shoot. From there you can pick the ones you’d like for me to edit based on the session package, and if you would like to add on extras. It’s $50 per extra photo.
-
Light retouching and color correction is applied to each photo chosen; this consists of slight color editing, getting rid of some flyaways, teeth whitening, removing blemishes, and getting rid of anything distracting in the frame.
I will not heavily process the photos since I opt for a more natural you to come through! If you would like heavier retouching for acne, wrinkles, moles, or want certain blemishes removed let me know before the retouching process begins.
-
Retouching can only begin after you’ve chosen the photos you’d like for me to work on. Once you’ve confirmed your selections, retouching will take approximately three weeks.
If you’d like any changes to the final photos you can send them back once for corrections as needed.
-
I can expedite the retouching process but it will be an extra fee of $50 per photo to expedite. And each photo will be given to you within two business days after the request.
